Summary
This talk gives a brief overview of what Google engineers do and provides context on the scale at which Google operates. The talk also contains worked examples about the challenges that come from operating systems (like Gemini) at scale and how engineers deal with these complexities. The speaker will also discuss co-op and internship opportunities for 2027 and graduate opportunities for students graduating in 2026.
Biography
Ian Burke is a Senior Software Engineer at Google. He currently works on Gemini, focusing mainly on AI reliability and availability. He has previously worked in Google Cloud on products such as Backup and Disaster Recovery and Google Kubernetes Engine. Ian graduated from the University of Limerick in 2018 and joined Google Ireland in 2019.
